Baking the wood would just be to make sure it's dried out correct? I know it's safe or all my fish would be dead
Only reason i'm asking so much about this particular wood is because I have a 56 gal column tank and I'm pretty sure i'm going to be converting it over. Only if my current one turns out passable lol.

It aids in killing bugs, their eggs, bacteria, mold, all kinds of not so delightful things...

    Default Help please :)

The substrate would be ABG. I left a comment on that thread about it.

You should bake the wood to sterilize it before using it in a Viv. 250* for about an hour. Just because the fish are ok, does not mean there aren't pathogens that could cause frogs to get sick. Just like humans, some fish are carriers of disease, even if they do not show signs of any illnesses. And fish carry some really nasty illnesses.

Yes, abg (atlanta botanical garden) mix. You can find it online at a lot of places or find a recipe to make your own. I have used both Josh's frogs and NeHerp with success. I bake wood for putting it in a dry area of the viv, boil it for use in a water feature. I skip the bleach, any nasties should be killed via baking or boiling.

It's ABG (Atlanta Botanical Gardens soil mix)

Baking the wood is mainly to kill anything that might be living in the wood or on it. You don't need to dry it out. Infact wet wood helps you maintain humidity in your tank

As for the soil adding some Repti Bark to what you have will help it drain better. Also add in some Orchid bark

Tank looks good so far, A nice piece of wood that reaches up into the to of the tank will help your plants and frogs use more of the available space.

Once all the plants grow in you will be able to see better how things look and if something needs to be moved.

Getting excited, going out this Friday to get my dirt mix
    Getting closer to my frogs

I put the plants back in their pots until I get the proper soil lol. I just had to see what it would look like. I will get my vines and the rest of the "hardware" for it also this week end. Thanks for everyone's help!
