Hello and welcome to the forum!

I agree that space is big enough to hold multiple species if done correctly. My suggestion would be to do some research on multispecies vivariums and see what animals would work together (regarding aggression, humidity, heating and etc) and then house those animals separately for a time so that you gain experience with that specific specie in order to understand what normal behavior is. That way if they are stressed when moved into a mixed tank, you'd be able to figure it out easier so that they do not get ill. Mixed species is not something that you can easily just dive into even if you have a large tank space. Plus, all animals need to be quarantined and/or treated for any parasites they may carry which would infect another animal. A parasite that may not affect one specie could devastate the other.

Hi thanks for the welcome. As much as i want a Mix tank, and have researched it. i have to agree with you on just diving into a mix tank. i really can't justify mixing species when i don't know much about taking care of them. I would rather be to cautious than not enough. and anything i decide to put into it will be all from the same area, i will not mix anything from different lands or climates, so if i do PDF's than anything that i (might) mix with them in the future would come from the same area as that species of frog i put into it. But i am so wishy washy as to what i want that i can't seem to make up my mind, I love all frogs and i just can't justify settting my mind on one type. how ever if anyone has a biased or unbiased opinion on the best frog to own that has a great personalty, and is active, than by all means help me make my mind up. also i have several aquariums i can convert into vivariums until the big one is complete, they range from 20g to 55g, so i am not short on empty aquariums to use for housing and learning. just really need to make my mind up..

Are you looking for something more active during the daytime? I adore pretty much all tree frogs, but if you're not a night owl, then you'll want to go with something else. Darts are awake during the day and there are some bolder species that would be out and about for you to see. They are great too if your focus is on planting, bigger frogs can be pretty destructive, so you have to stick with hardy plants when housing them.

well I guess i am looking for something that is day time, all though I am usually up till midnight, I had thought about whites tree frogs, but For the reason you mentioned as far as plants go i don't want to be fixing any plants they decide to destroy or what have you. i do like Red eye tree frogs and the Milk tree frog, I also Love spring peepers, but i don't think i could handle them when they are calling in my house. But i think for the most part i am the type that the evening time till i go to bed is when i spend the most time working on my aquariums and vivarium it's my relaxing time. so i i guess what ever is more active around 5:00 pm-morning is fine with me ( i know they won't be on my time frame but just an idea as when i am normally able to enjoy watching them.) so tree frogs aren't out of the question at all.

Bill don't send no body away I can use all the help i can get hahaha. but you did hit the nail on the head sorta speak. i guess my biggest thing is i just want the tank to look active and not dead. i know it will be planted really good. like a PDF tank. but i just worried that the big tank the little darts would get lost in such an enclosure. I however love all frogs and after i build this big tank. i will probably build a 6'x2'x3' enclosure to house another species of frog. so i got plenty of room and time.. lol. also with this tank the main thing i wanted was a water fall. so the ammount of water will be roughly 600gph flowing down the fall. it will not how ever have a pond but more of a stream flowing throught it. lots of driftwood and rock work, and also a wooded like section. just to give an idea of the ladscape. how ever the amount of water from the fall will probabaly vary depending on pump size. the hieght of the waterfall will be about 5 feet. so i want to make sure that all will be able to contend with the water flow. i know of the hillstream tank that had a massive water fall
