Can Oral Suspension Metronidazole Be Used Topically?

Honey-Lime is still on his hunger strike 12 days now (unless he ate a cricket behind my back) and I can't trust that Shirley isn't gobbling up everything in sight... she was like a 2-year-old on french fries last night when I put the crickets in the tank, think she got them all before Honey even woke up! Anyway, I have OS Metro, but since he won't eat anything, by tong or otherwise, including the waxworms I usually shoot up with their meds, I can't get it into him (don't want to try force feeding him yet) so was wondering if it would work on him topically. The med separates to white sediment on the bottom and clear liquid on top so have to shake the heck out of it before use. I know Metro is supposed to be an appetite stimulant so...

Also, the other day I gave him a honey soak and mixed some Repashy super calcium powder into the water, how likely is it he would have absorbed any of the calcium/vitamins from that? I plan on giving him a pedialyte soak tonight. How often can honey and pedialyte soaks be given? Don't want to tox him on sugars and electrolytes but he needs nutrients. I know I've been told that frogs can go without food for 15 days without harm, but I don't like that he's not eating. No reason for it seemingly except for some seasonal weirdness for him. Things have been a bit cooler here since that 1 day heat wave we had when the temps went up to almost 85 in the tanks and then it rained like a son of a gun... the native PCFs were outside calling like mad and Honey just seemed to go crazy. Now he's kind of depressed, still seems to be healthy though, still calling off and on... man these guys can be frustrating! if he doesn't eat by day 15 I'm going to have to try to get some Reptaboost into him, but in the meantime want to see how applying the oral suspension Metro, honey-Repashy bath and Pedialyte soaks will work.

Yeah, you will need to force feed unfortunately. And by the way the is no evidence to suggest it is an appetite stimulant.
and since you are force feeding it anyway mix it with reptiboost and some critical care food or waxworms or even a bit of pac food.

Argh, the little buttocks... If he doesn't perk & eat up before day 15 that is exactly what I will do. I sure hope I will have better luck getting him to open his mouth than I did Martha. She wouldn't open her maw for anything when I went to medicate her and I had to stop for fear I'd injure her (she finally got her Ivomec topically). That frog's jaw is tighter than Ebeneezer Scrooge!
