    Default Quick lighting question

i have a quick fixture question my tank is 24x24x24 would something like this ViaVolt 2 ft. 4-Bulb T5 High Output Copper Fluorescent Grow Light Fixture-V24 - The Home Depot work well or is it an overkill? i like that it has a nice clean look to it. or would something like this Exo Terra LINEAR Top MEDIUM (23.6” x 3.5” x 7.8”) - Hood Fixtures | Josh's Frogs be better? any recommendations for other fixtures? thanks

You could save yourself a lot of money and go with this - LED Aquarium Lighting Freshwater Bright
2.0.3 Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"
2.2.0 Agalychnis callidryas "Red Eyed Tree Frogs"

0.0.3 Dendrobates auratus "Turquoise and Bronze"
    0.0.1 Anaxyrus fowleri "Fowler's Toad"

The first one listed would work, may be a bit overkill, but you also have to consider that that fixture has no bulbs included, so you will be looking at an extra $60 or so (on average) for bulbs, which Home Depot does not stock in store. At least not in the proper color temp.

Second fixture, same deal, except 2 bulbs less.

Amy's suggestion is a quality one. Even if you feel you need more light, 2 of those fixtures would be less than either one you picked out, before bulbs. And the led's will last much much longer than any linear florescent.

I have 3 of the one that I linked to you. Two 18" and one 24". They are fantastic. Since your tank is a cube, it may be beneficial to have 2 like Bill said. Bill is actually the one that talked me into getting them and I've never had better plant growth. Before these, I used a hood with CFL's.
