    Default Springtails in spagmoss

Hey what's up guys I just recently planted my Viv and am almost ready to add microfauna. The reptile store where I bought all my stuff from doesn't use abg mix, they just plant right into spagmoss. currently I have my tank planted the same way, but am going to add abg mix as soon as I can. My question is can I add springtails and isos to my tank with just spagmoss, pillow moss and leaf litter as substrate or do you have to have soil in the tank for them to thrive? Thanks in advance!

Hi I see no one answered your post and you have probably finished your viv by now. Springtails and isopods can work in a setup as you describe. The leaf litter will provide food for the isopods and as the plant material breaks down the springtails and isos will cycle into productivity and become prolific depending on the amount of food source for them. ABG Mix will be even better.

Awesome thank for your reply! I did already finish my Viv and I ended up using abg but this info is very valuable for future vivs I might make! Thanks again!
