Hi everyone! It's my first post on this forum!
I have question for you. I've got 4 months old and 8,5 cm long pyxie. Is it normal size for that age? I'm asking because I saw few posts where people said that they have same size frogs but 2 months younger! I've got Bąbel (that's his name, it means Bubble) 1,5 months ago and he doubled his size since then. Is it possible that I'm underfeeding him or something?
Temps:
Water: 26C
Basking spot: 30C
Air: 25C and >20C at night.
Feeding:
Every day I'm feeding him around 10 dubias 1-2cm long or 1-2 biggest night crawlers or 5-10 red hybrids and dusting calcium with vitamin D from time to time. I've tried 15 minutes method when he was 5cm long but he ate more then 20 mealworms so I stopped. Every 2-3 weeks I'm giving him one pinky.
At this very moment he shredded his skin and croaked, so he is a 100% male?

Hi and welcome to the forum!
your frog seems to be just fine! Very pretty and very young boy! They all develop on their own pace, you just need to feed as much as he can eat once a day... Be ready, that is going to be a LOT of food lol don't do mealworms, feed nightcrawlers, dubia, occasional treats.
at that size he can probably eat like 5-6 big nightcrawlers at a time
use ca/vitd3 every second day and once a week multivitamins.
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Thank you for a quick response![]()
Could you tell me if it is ok that my frog is sitting in a water all the time? It is a warmest place in his terrarium, that's probably a reason. Is it harmless for him to spend there ALL the time?
Can someone tell me is it ok if my bullfrog after 11 months has 12cm long and weights 250 grams? Compared to other bullfrogs he is rather small, maybe he is stuned or just a female? It is important to me to know that because I'm afraid that I'm doing something wrong.
12cm is about 5" mine was smaller at this agecan you post a pic?

For your interest on amazons kindle (can be downloaded to normal phones) has an excellent new detailed book on giant African bull frogs by Philippe de vosjoli and Robert mailluox. I've just read the book and your care seems to be very good according to it, but I'd dust more often
I have that bookLija I will try but I think there is some problem on the forum with posting pics right now. Did you gabf grow much larger? I saw twice as big frogs at this age.
Hi, the easiest way to post a picture is to upload/download it to photo hosting site then just copy and paste to the thread.
Bąbel is growing, do you still think he's a boy?He is 20 moths old and weights 300g.
