Visible Light From Night Bulbs?

red one is better, I had them both before the black one is completely useless, caution though the red one is very hot it may raise your tank temp far above normal

I would only recommend a red for colder nights. They do crank out the heat man... if you want a good night view, use a few blue leds... yes i do think the can see more of the red. When we turn one on, the frogs hunker back down.

Red is way hotter than black
Black is prettymuch a darned party light with a brand name for more $
The only good night view bulb we found was a 100w zoo med moon light bulb, ouch... and it wasnt that good, just an intense black light. Waste of $...
if you go red, a dimmable fixture is a must

Leds really are the way to go. Even an el cheapo aquaruim hood with day/night. About $40 here.
