Exactly how much calcium and vitamins do whites need? I always feed my crickets Flukers Orange Cubed, but I don't dust the crickets because the Orange Cubed says it has all the calcium and vitamins, and is a great gut loading product. If feeding meal worms or any other worms I dust them. Just curious. My frogs are very active and healthy, but I know a loss of nutrients can be detrimental long term.

Froggrer,
I have never kept Whites, but if they need similar supplements as Red Eyes than Supplementing with each feeding is a great practice.
I was never a fan of gut loading crickets prior to feeding. You don't really know how much of the gut load is present by the time the frogs eat them. With my Red Eyes I rotated supplements between Calcium w/ D3 and a Multivitamin. Just dusted the crickets really good at each feeding.
Maybe someone with some Whites experience can chime in.

I gut load my crickets on a combo of Fluker's dry high calcium diet & original Cheerios (which they devour). They get spring water on cotton balls to drink. I have been considering pulling the ones I'm going to feed to anyone I am medicating about 24-48 hrs ahead of time and gut loading them on Fluker's Repta Boost, since these frogs need an extra...well, boost, lol. I've been dusting wax worms with the stuff but it's coarser than Cal or vitamin dust, so I think it's harder for them to get down that way.
Other than gut loading I always dust feeders with Reptocal (Cal/D3) once a week, and then dust with a multi-vit once a week on another day and this seems to work well. I need to find a different brand of vitamin though, as Honey HATES it. The others have no issue with it at all but Honey will spit out anything dusted with Reptivite

Like Honey, my frogs hate the powder too! That's why I'm wondering if I need even need to dust them, since the Flukers Orange Cubed has the needed nutrients.

Repashy has a Supervite that might be worth trying. I use it instead of RepCal Reptivite.

Thanks, Paul! I'm going to look for that
Frogger00, do you dust them thick or tap some off before you give it? That might help. But if it's the taste you'll have to do some experimenting like I am. It's just strange how Honey seems to like Reptocal just fine, weird frog.

I never gut load crickets for frogs. Only my tarantulas get gut loaded crickets. For tree frogs, I dust with each feeding. And I don't dust heavy, just lightly. Never had an issue with them spitting out anything. I use fluker's for the tree frogs. Darts have their own supplements.

I dust the worms lightly, but I don't dust the crickets at all.

I alternate between rep-cal, Repashy supervite, and repashy calc+. Over time, all of my frogs have gotten used to eating dusted crickets and no longer care. They might occasionally spit out an overly dusted one and wipe their tongue, but then just dive back in for another. I feed my crickets fresh fruits and vegetables for at least 24 hours and don't bother with the premade gutloads...I have seen too many stories on here where frogs are suffering from calcium deficiency because the owner thought the gutload products were enough.

Yeah, I just hit the 6 month drop-off date, so I just ordered some Repashy supervite and repashy MeD supercal. I've heard great things about them. On a side note, I also spent about another $130 on other things from NEherp, but that's a completely different story
Oh, and for crickets I just feed fruits and veggies and sometimes freeze-dried mealworms for gut-load, but that's just a bonus

I would say that if you are gut loading, then dusting at least once a week should ensure the frogs are getting the proper supplementation. Some form of redundancy is never a bad thing.
