Here are his FB posts from a post on the Caudata.org group for those of you who didn't see them, I don't think it'll be back anytime soon, which is a real shame.

"It's not about money. I've told a few people why and I will leave it to them to share publicly if they want. I am aware that people rely on this site and I'm evaluating future options for the data. I won't be giving the site away, selling it, or letting other people take it over. What I found amazing is how many people have contacted me since last night saying how much they value the site. Frankly, you guys needed this to happen to tell me that? And what makes it even greater is how many people have contacted me demanding (yes) I put the site back up. Like, how dare I do what I did."

"
I know everyone uses Facebook and Twitter now to keep in contact. But ask yourself how many people you have met through Caudata.org and then ask yourself if you would have your hobby without it. Then ask yourself if you've ever bad-mouthed myself or the site."
