That company is a top notch builder, and I believe their dart frog terrariums include a built-in false bottom, you would not need to build your own. You will be very happy with their product line. If you purchase a terrarium without a false bottom then you will need to build your own or add a drainage layer.

So im guessing you would only need to use hydroton in the front part of the terrarium then is that correct? Then the substrate on top of that. I've not been able to see one in person so am just going by the pictures I have seen so am a little confused. I don't want to use up too much height with the various layers that's all.

I haven't seen their tanks in person, but if there is a space in the front you will want to fill it with some thing. You can use Hydroton, Lyca, Rocks... really anything that wont break down. Seperate whatever you put down there form the soil above. I prefer to use Fiber glass window screen for this. It is cheap and you get a lot of it You soil you will want to make at least 3" deep.
