I want to try my hand at breeding Occidozyga lima (Indonesian floating frogs), and I know that UVB lighting isn't used very often if at all for frogs. However, I also know that UVA light stimulates natural behaviors in basking reptiles (i.e., breeding).
Does anybody have an opinion on if this would work for frogs? I heard that O. lima seems to like heat and strong light before breeding, so I thought I may try an overhead, low-watt halogen basking bulb (to produce both heat and UVA, without UVB) to induce amplexus. However, I don't want to do this if the light actually hurts the frogs. From what I understand, they either float or venture onto land. Therefore, no matter what they would get at least a little direct UVA exposure. That's why I want to be sure it won't hurt/kill them.
Thanks for reading! Also, I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this query--if so, please feel free to move it.
