hello i just purchased a red eyed tree frog from a local pet store (the pet store is very unclean and dirty) i bought him from them because i felt bad after i got him he seemed really stressed so i didn't handle him i let him stay in his vivarium (50 gallons 70% humidity) he shared his tank with a small gray tree fro thats big enough so it wont get eaten he was a dark green color for a few days then he reverted back to his normal green color i noticed a hole bunch of black markings on his back and a big pink one on his leg also my younger brother bought a green anole and is having it stay in my tank can they live together?? i hope he is not sick please let me know any advice thanks![]()
Hooo Boy... I think you got yourself into a vat of pickle soup. #1. Mixing species is generally seen as a big NO NO, and for very good reason-- Primarily STRESS and DISEASE/CROSS CONTAMINATION of the mixed inhabitants. You need to get all of those creatures separated out into their own tanks ASAP.
#2. Please go to this thread and follow the directions there, it's going to go a long way toward folks being able to help you with your issues with your frog(s). Thanks!

I would separate them immediately. Mixing species causes problems on its own, but especially with new (and suspected sick) animals you need to quarantine them separate from your established tank.
thanks irthumper and cris i will separate them immediately
some pics of my frog
Hello and welcome to the frog forum,
OUCH! That looks like some skin has been torn off
. I would get an amphibian vet on hand. If they aren't infected already they will be soon. Hopefully someone will come with some adivice on what to do. perhaps using a little neosporin WITHOUT PAIN RELIEVER will help. And please do answer the trouble in the enclosure questions.

Those pics look BADDid he develop those areas after you brought him home, or did he have the black marks and raw spots when you bought him? To me it already looks like he has infection, unless those black marks are bruising... it looks like something has been chewing on him! Other than all this he NEEDS his crickets dusted with Calcium/D3 once a week and a multivitamin dust once a week.
This frog needs a vet, there is no doubt in my mind about that.![]()
