most frogs do not require UV lighting to help them produce calcium in captivity. it's the supplements that we dust their food with that covers that. now, i am not a toad person, so i can't speak with any authority on them, but, as far as tree frogs and darts go, no UV is required. it is thought to be helpful for some, but not a requirement. i know that's a kind of vague answer, but i hope it helps a little.
