my tank update thread

instead of updating multiple threads to show progress of my tanks (i also post on multiple forums, it gets confusing and tiring), i decided to just put all my updates in one thread. these are my current tanks. one of them, i am hopeful some of you have seen, Solitude, but the two others i am running right now, most haven't. i didn't do journals on them (too lazy to take pics while i build lol), but you'll see the tanks as they are now as always, feel free to fire away with any questions you may have, EXCEPT "how did you build that?" LOL here are the pics, enjoy

Let's start off with my favorite (for now) Solitude:



I'll send a box of my ABG to whoever can name all the plants in this pic. i'll even accept genus names only (ex: Peperomia sp.)
















i regret i didn't catch the water spot on my lens for the next two pics. i really like the shots:







some pics of the little ones living inside Phyllobates vittatus. it's hard to get pics of these guys because they are still young and shy. and they are lightning fast! and i apologize, most of my frog pics are taken on my phone, so if they are a bit fuzzy, you know why.

This is a tank most of you haven't seen. i originally built this for my Phyllobates terribilis 'mint', but they are only a month OOW, and i had the opportunity to pick up a quartet of Dendrobates tinctorius 'patricia' for a really good price, so i jumped at it, and they got this tank. no worries though, i am currently working on their tank, along with a couple others

this tank has undergone numerous revisions and rebuilds. my poor pumi's just want to get busy, but i keep putting them in a quarantine tank to fix their tank. i think this version is gonna be around for a while, so i'll share this one is for my Oophaga pumilio 'black jeans'

Thanks buddy solitude is my favorite as well. I spend a lot of time looking at that tank lol. It still needs a few adjustments, but it will get there.

i told you guys a new tank for the mints was in the works. it's almost complete. i just need to finish up the water feature. i will do that next weekend. here's my newest tank, Deforestation. i wanted to do something a bit different and use a piece of wood that wasn't perfect or pristine. it also allowed me to make a little statement about the environments our beloved little friends are now dealing with in the wild. i'll get better pics in a few days, but here are the ones i took today:



there is a serious amount of moss mix in this tank. there is Folius moss mix (Folius) on the rocks and NE Herp mix (New England Herpetoculture LLC - Herpetoculture Supply Menu) on the wood.

Ah, that new palu is in a holding pattern while I deal with a colony of carpenter ants in the wood. Right now, that tank looks like this:


It's soaking in bleach water. A very heavy concentration. Once the wood sinks and has been submerged for a few days, construction will continue.

Needless to say, insects are the biggest challenge when it comes to field collecting wood. Now you guys know one of my secrets to sterilizing large pieces of wood.
