Default Yet to be new additions to the collection

Yesterday i ordered a male and female axolotl. And im going to breed them. My uncle has axolotls and breeds them he said they are easy to breed them but you have to breed your own brine shrimp to feed the new born

if any one els has had experience with axolotls and there is any thing i should know plz tell me

In this country, you can get them from Michael Shrom/Above Average Amphibians. His ads can be found in the Kingsnake.com classifieds.

I have an axolotl! he's called Casper, 'cos he looks like a ghost

Anyhoo, he's great fun to watch! Especially when he's dashing around doing his 'dolphin' impression! Feeding time is also fun! Best of all though, is people's faces wgen they first see him! I don't know anyone who'd ever seen one before.
He's kept in a tank with a gravel bottom (I feed him with tweezers, rather than dropping worms in to minimize the risk of him swallowing any gravel), a small filter (they prefer very still water) and a hiding place (which he rerely uses).

This will sound silly, but you should add visual boundries in the tank. So they dont go fighting. Also there is this really neat site that is the counterpart of this site. Its called
    caudata.org

I pop in every now and then. They will be better to assist you on these amphibians. Seeing as alot of people tend to post int he axolotl threads.

Well hope this helps, good luck and great to know people are getting intrested in these fascinating animals.

They don't fight as such, youngsters try to make a meal out of each other's feet and tail if not fed very well.
