This is my new Chilean rose not yet named and no clue as to sex. I am thinking it is still pretty young. It tolerates handling remarkable well, and eats one appropriate sized cricket every Sunday. I am also working on another Pink Toe (labelled as an Antilles) but that is still in the works. Wish me luck!![]()
I wish you luck and Happy Holiday to you.
Thank you Kurt! Happy Holidays to you as well!![]()
Congrat's and good luck![]()
She? Looks very nice! Happy Holidays! I LOVE The red leaves of the fake plant!![]()
Congratulations on your new cutie! If you could get a picture of his/her ventral area on the underside of his/her abdomen I could help you figure out the sex.
I named it Chili...and I have been calling it "he". No idea whether it is or not though. But I have a Pink Toe named Kamani and calling a girl, so I thought why not have one of each??![]()
Hey Jo, congratulations..very cool. Love the name. I hope you had a great Christmas.![]()
I had an awesome Christmas, thank you! I hope you did too. Chili is doing amazing and seems to be settling in nicely. I hope he eats tomorrow and starts webbing-then I know for sure he has accepted his new home! Hugs my friend!![]()
This is only the second tarantula I have ever held...the last one was almost 10 years ago!! Chili stayed like this for almost 10 minutes.
safe to say she lives up to her name.Being chill and all.
LOL-yes! I just hope he stays that way as he grows. I plan on handling him at least daily to keep him used to it, but I have never seen this particular one go into any kind of defensive posture when a hand was placed in. He is so cool!!!![]()
Grats.
I gave one of my brother a female rosehair from Petco for Christmas 4 yrs ago and he still have her to this day.
Yeah whenever you can get a picture of it's underside just post it or PM it to me and Id love to help.
Rose hairs are really docile most of the time, unfortunately though with tarantulas you can't really " train " them to get use to being held. It's mainly just whether or not they feel up to it. My oldest rose hair, fluffy, use to be completely fine with being held when we first got her then once she got more comfortable with her home and more protective over it she became defensive, rose hairs are funny that way. Some days she doesn't seem to mind at all and then other days the minute the lid is opened she is ready to hunt you down.
Yeah, I have heard of that. I hope he remains more on the relax side. Either way, he is absolutely amazing to watch. Though I am calling it a he, I hope it is a female as I hear the females live longer. Chili was quite active last night, finally moving around and exploring while the lights were on. I think he finally ate the cricket I fed him on Sunday, too. I will try and get a picture today of the underside of him.![]()
