    Default Greetings

I'm new to the forum and to frogs/vivariums. I am coming from a planted freshwater aquarium, riparium (terrestrial plants with roots in an aquarium), and aquaponic (like ripariums except typically using edible plants and the plants are often not directly attached to the tank but part of the filtration system) background. I've had a love for dart frogs since I was a child but never considered owning them. Back then I assumed they were wild caught and insanely expensive.. probably were.. but not they are pretty commonly captive bred and though a touch expensive.. not too much. After a mention of them on an aquarium forum I started looking into darts and decided I wanted to try my first viv and get some dedrobates azureus this year. I've started collecting necessary materials and have most of what I need to start (excluding plants and mico fauna), now I just need to figure out where the tank will go to I can start working on scape layout.
Look forward to browsing the forums and hopefully getting helpful suggestions from fellow members ^^

    Welcome
I got hooked on freshwater planted task pretty fast- went from 2 to 7 in a little over 1/2 a year.. plus a quarantine tank, a 'plant dump' tank, and 2 fauna-less picos (less than 1g). And... yeh I'm already realizing vi addiction as I'm starting to mess with hardscape options for my tank "ohh this looks good.. oh but if I used these other pieces like this that's also a cool scape!">.<

welcome, just like you, i have a heavy background of planted tanks. boy are you in for a surprise! they are more addictive than shrimp tanks! so much so that i only planned on having 1 species of frog, the next thing i knew, all my planted aquariums were gone and i was became a true frogger!! (ok, so i still dabble in planteds here and there) there's an awful lot of info here, i'm sure you find everything you need

That's what I'm worried about >.< I'm already taking the 10gs since they've been the fish quarantine and unwanted plant dump tank... one will be a sump for the first project, the other the quarantine for new frogs (and if they breed-a grow out tank... if not then it may turn into a front opening viv if I can settle on a good conversion kit)). But I don't think my husband would want me giving away/selling off my fish and either selling or converting all the tanks.. honestly I'd only be able to bring myself to converting the 20g since it has no fish right now, but I'm too attached to my bettas, and I wouldn't touch my husband's 12g long tank.. and I think he's also really bonded with the angelfish and rainbowfish in the 55g... But I'm already eyeing the 55g and the ghostwood scaping I did in there "that would make a great for dendrobates leucomelas" (or another climber that does well in groups)... but the way it is now the wood comes up out of the water so I'd have to build an extension nearly another 1' above the tank rim.
