Assuming I'm using the correct name for the stage when they crawl out of the water "for good" - is there any other recommended foods beyond fruit flies for them? I haven't noticed pinhead crickets available locally and fruit flies squick my highly tolerant wife enough if I can avoid having them in the house it is a good idea.
About the only thing I can think of that might work are white worms / grindal worms, but they would need to be small ones. The simple truth is frogs eat insects and there's no way of getting away from that.

There are bean weevils, but they should not make up the staple of your frog's diet (high in chitin). If you culture your own waxworms, then you would have some small enough for your frogs, but like the weevils they should not make up the staple (high in fat).
