Hi new to the forums with lots and lots of questions. A little about me Im 29 Female and a dog trainer and new to keeping toads. I rescued my three from a feeder tank at work as tadpoles and now that there young toads we are pretty certain due to color size etc they are California toads (Bufo boreas halophilus). They are young around a month since they changed into frogs they are around 2 inches in size at the most. Cute lil buggers. Im in the process of setting up a 20 gallon long half land half water tank. Currently they are in a 20 gallon standard tank that's getting a wee bit crowded. My main question is how offten to feed??? They get fruit flies twice a day and crickets every other day. Reason twice a day is they have been chasing bugs on the outside of the glass like there hungry so me being a worry wart fed them. Is that ok? I may try other foods just not sure what to feed the care sheet I have says meal worms and crickets. Any tips help greatly appreciated.I will also post the toad parts in the toad care area.

Hi Charlene, welcome to the forum![]()
The water area is shallow in there current half water half land tank. They also have rocks and plants to float on. One of the larger toads likes to soak he will spend forever just sitting on one of the half submerged rocks. I know there not great swimmers so they have lots of areas to get out of the water with ease.
Ok just keep an eye on it.
