Hello, we've had our little guy for about six months now and not sure if there is something that we can better do to care for him. He's sort of hit a plateau with his size and hasn't really grown at all in the last couple of months. We've went from various types of foods and haven't really settled on any one type of food but he's definitely eaten more grubs/larvae than anything else. No mealworms with hard carapaces. We tried that once and he got very constipated. I've seen a lot of talk on here lately about earth worms so I plan on picking some up today on the way home from work. Here is my description of the enclosure. We have a 10 gallon tank and I've put foil at the top of the tank with a cut out for lights. We have two lights (a daylight and a UV) that we alternate between day and night cycles. Nothing else in the tank other than water bowl and a log that he goes and hangs out in sometimes. The frog is in my sons room in a corner. We use the powder to coat the food every other day or so but nothing else. We use the substrate that you soak and put in their tank. This gets changed every couple of weeks. Temp and humidity in the tank is usually around 80%. We treat the water with the drops that we got at the pet store.
He seems like he is OK. Doesn't really move much but I guess that is normal for this type of frog. When we take him out to feed he does hop around a bit.
My questions.
Do I need to cover some of the sides of the tank? I do not want to overly stress him out.
Is it normal for him to hang to hang out in the exact same spot all day?
How are people feeding their frogs? Mine will eat off of tongs but will not eat on his own.
We use the powder to coat the food every other day or do. Do we need to do this more often?
I've heard people talk about a multi-vitamin. Is there a recommended brand? Something I can get at Petsmart?
