    Default 6 month Pacman questions

Hello, we've had our little guy for about six months now and not sure if there is something that we can better do to care for him. He's sort of hit a plateau with his size and hasn't really grown at all in the last couple of months. We've went from various types of foods and haven't really settled on any one type of food but he's definitely eaten more grubs/larvae than anything else. No mealworms with hard carapaces. We tried that once and he got very constipated. I've seen a lot of talk on here lately about earth worms so I plan on picking some up today on the way home from work. Here is my description of the enclosure. We have a 10 gallon tank and I've put foil at the top of the tank with a cut out for lights. We have two lights (a daylight and a UV) that we alternate between day and night cycles. Nothing else in the tank other than water bowl and a log that he goes and hangs out in sometimes. The frog is in my sons room in a corner. We use the powder to coat the food every other day or so but nothing else. We use the substrate that you soak and put in their tank. This gets changed every couple of weeks. Temp and humidity in the tank is usually around 80%. We treat the water with the drops that we got at the pet store.

He seems like he is OK. Doesn't really move much but I guess that is normal for this type of frog. When we take him out to feed he does hop around a bit.

    My questions.

Do I need to cover some of the sides of the tank? I do not want to overly stress him out.
Is it normal for him to hang to hang out in the exact same spot all day?
How are people feeding their frogs? Mine will eat off of tongs but will not eat on his own.
We use the powder to coat the food every other day or do. Do we need to do this more often?
I've heard people talk about a multi-vitamin. Is there a recommended brand? Something I can get at Petsmart?

Hello, welcome to the forum. Sounds like everything your doing is ok, you can try and cover three sides and see if it helps him abit with stress. Some people do it some don't, I would recommend it if he is in a medium to high traffic area. You may want to try to put him somewhere there is less traffic. If you find he may be getting to big for his tank you could upgrade to 20 gallon but I would say that's the max for size, they wont use more room. For the feeders nightcrawlers are great for a staple diet, and ya you need to pick up some multivitamins because he really needs it. Repashy makes a really good one, you can give it once a week for now. If you go into the forum were the feeder discussions are someone just put up a good vitamin schedule. You can also pick him up some hornworms and give him a couple every couple weeks. Just don't over do it because they very fattening, they are like donuts to them so its just a treat. If you can get him to take the worms as a staple diet that's great, crickets don't really have any nutritional value at all. And for him sitting in the same spot that's what they do, mine stayed in the spot once for 2 months. I had a guy at the pet store explain something to me that kinda makes sense seeming these are sit and wait predators. He told me if I want him to move I could try moveing him before feeding then feed him in the new location. if you feed him in the same spot all the time he isn't going to want to leave because he knows eventually something is going to come by. Sure enough I tried it and it worked, it took me a couple feedings but eventually she got the point. Hope I could give you some ideas.Oh and I tong feed even though she will eat on her own. Prevents her from getting mouthfuls of cocofibre.
