Doesn't sound like it's ready to molt. They will burrow somewhere before doing so. What do you have for water sources (salt and fresh) for them? Perhaps water is collecting in its shell when it goes into the water bath and doesn't completely drain.

All my hermit crabs love to bury. They are most always buried down. And yes I have salt and fresh water for them. And I haven't seen him in the salt bath yet, so thats why I've found it odd.
That's just normal. Probably just water that got caught up inside the shell. Sometimes they seem to froth out or become damp to replace the old water inside the shell. Young ones in particular do this to prevent their soft body from drying out excessively
