    Default Divideing substrates

Good evening, im going to clean and change substrates in my FBT tank tonight and just had a quick question. My tank is divided in half with a piece of plexi glass, on my land side I have moss and some big flat rocks covering small aquarium rock. I want to put cocofibre but don't want the hassle of it all mixing in with the rock underneath. So my question is, if I have a piece a of new good clean window screen can I use it as divider for inbetween the rock and cocofibre.

As long as it is fiberglass screen, you're ok. Make sure you double layer it to ensure no substrate gets into your drainage layer.

Im not a hundred percent sure if it is fibre glass screen or not. It was the owner of the house that purchased the screen and he left the remaining pieces. I for sure have enough to double layer. Is there away to tell if its fibreglass screen? And if not what else would be good to use? Price isn't an issue, just thought if I could use something I didn't have to purchase would have been a bonus.

If you fold it and it holds it's shape, it's aluminum and unusable. If it's soft and pliable, it's fiberglass.

Ok thanks, Im pretty sure im good then. I gave it a good scrub under some hot water then soaked it in hot water with reptisafe and while scrubbing it was pretty flimsy and soft and if i bent it there was no way it was holding its shape.
