Canister filters are your best bet for sure. These frogs are messy and they do a good job without much noise in the tank. Also canisters aren't bothered by having the water level a few inches down from the top. Which I highly recommend along with a secure lid, make sure any gaps in the lid are covered with screen or something. One of my frogs escaped the other night, thankfully I found her and she seems fine. I have a couple sponge filters in their tank too, I like the redundancy and they are cheap and easy to maintain.
