I found these weird specks all over Martha's house and in her water I was getting ready to make a totally freaked out post, when I figured something out.... I pulled Martha's cricket jar out from her cart and looked-- it was YAM POOP!
Well, now I know appx. how long it takes for food to pass through a cricket-- 3 days for yam. I got these things on the same day I brought her home, and I put them in a food safe plastic jar (BPA free) with mesh banded over the top. I was going to give them some Fluker's dry high calcium cricket chow but forgot to put it in. What I did have was a nice healthy chunk of fresh raw yam in there, and they had the orange specks all over their egg carton, lol *Whew!* The cricket's now have their dry high cal chow and some Cheerios along with their yam. Oh, I took some vid and apparently they also eat dispatched crickets... I saw one gnawing on an exoskeleton and couldn't tell if it was dead-dead or a molt. There was some Flukers on it, so it could have been going after that, but the thing looked like a trucker in front of a pile of bbq ribs the way it was chewing on it!
