Smile Friendly hello from Slovenia, a little country in Europe

Hello frog lovers, I've discovered this interesting place searching for DIY instructions on how to make a paludarium, as I wanted to convert my old 35l/10g fish tank into controlled habitat for my orchids, bromeliad and few carnivorous plants.. But, when I saw this place, well, I think I have found my new hobby

As I don't know anything about frogs right now, I would like to hear what are your suggestions for my first one. There are few things to consider.. Habitat will be a 50cm x 25cm x 30cm(high) fish tank. If possible, I would like to have a frog native to my country (I think green frogs are the smaller ones), so I can help saving the endangered species.. If not, I am open to any suggestions.

The main point here is I love DIY projects, animals and plants, and I want to join them together. I don't have many resources money wise, but I do have a large house with a cellar full of useful things and a lot of different materials.

Welcome! Most of us here love making stuff especially when it involves tanks. Careful though lol once you do your first tank you wontbe able to stop lol large house is good... Very good....

Native frogs - you need to check the local laws, if most places it's illegal to take an animal from a wild, you need to test it for bunch of things, it will get pricey. living in Slovenia is so close to all super duper breeders and shows, you should have no problems getting whoever you want

would you please post another thread in vivarium section, so you get an advise faster or just show off
Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!

Amy/LilyPad and Lija, thank you for your warm welcome!
I will post my next questions about paludarium in a appropriate section of this forum, but I have just one more question before that..
What are those numbers in front of frog species like "2.2.0" Hyla versicolor "Eastern Gray Tree Frogs"..?
I am sure they have some important meaning.

welcome to the forum! I look forward to hearing about your paludarium or terrarium.

Edit: also I'll try to use metric alongside other measurements to help those who are used to that.

Once again to all of you, thank you for your most warm welcome! This looks like a really nice and friendly community, loving it already!

@elly - I am not sure how many EU members are here, but I think almost every EU country uses metric system.. You don't have to do it especially for me, but maybe it would be helpful to others.

Looking forward to learn from all of you, and also share my beginner steps and adventures in this, the more I read, the more fascinating world of frogs!

I have one more question.. What is the difference between Likes and Thanks on this forum, and how should they be used?

Hello and welcome to FF ! "Like" can be used when either you agree with post and like it. "Thanks" is used when someone reply to your question or says something nice about your pictures, etc. Most members use the "Like" button for both.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Pretty much Lija The US now requires us to learn it for school. Also most chemists use it as it can be more accurate, especially for liquids
