    Default Quick questions

I Have a Green Tree frog that I inherited from another teacher. I've been feeding her crickets, but she doesn't seem to be eating them. Many of them have drowned in her water bowl. Some sources say they can eat wax worms, some say not. What does frog forum think?

also, she seems to be more brown than green. Is this normal? Stress?

    Thanks in advance

How big are the crickets? If you want them to stay in the same place, you can feed in a 2'' high smooth bowl. Wax worms are kind of high in fat, low in nutrients, though they're good as treats.

How long have you had her? If it's only been a few days, then she probably won't eat because of the stress. Also, stress could be causing darker coloring or that might be her natural color. I wouldn't worry too much. Good luck!

I've had her about a week. Are there any worms that are ok AND nutritious for her to eat?

I always get the small crickets. The firebelly toads I have (in a different tank) require that. She isn't much bigger, so I give her the same. I am pretty sure she has eaten at least some of the crickets I've given her. So I may be concerned for no reason.

I will try the deeper bowl. Plus, I know her tank right now is way too small. She is only in there until I finish her palace

The picture I posted initially is her, hanging out in the corner as she usually does.

Put the crickets in a bowl, not a deeper water bowl. Make sure you clean any dead crickets out of the water dish asap so they don't start rotting in there. Crickets should be fine for food, you could try some earthworms if you want (undyed from a pesticide/fertilizer free area. Some bait shops sell them.) Answering the questions in the link that Lynn posted would help us help you a lot. Make sure you're using dechlorinated tap water for soaking that is changed daily. Is that moss substrate? If so, you may want to remove it, if you bowl feed the crickets instead, it shouldn't be as much of a risk. Make sure you get a branch in there and cover 3 sides of her home with some kind of paper to help her feel more comfortable.
