Ok im goin to get a 40 gal breeder next week as my next project for my FBT. I would like to hear any suggestions on the setup or pics of some please. I have an idea of how I want it but its subjected to change. I currently have 3 but my males have been grabbing the females as of earlier and its only a matter of time before I get eggsI cant wait. The eggs will be raised in my 10 gal once the FBT get into their new home. Thanks in advance for any advice and pictures
Wow, a 40 breeder for fire bellies? Those are some lucky fire bellies. I just bought one (tank) myself for my Phyllobates terribilis. It's rare for anyone to have such a large tank for frogs so your only hope for ideas may be dart frogs terrariums, but 99% of those are not suitable for fire bellied toads :/.

yea I want to make somethin special for my Fire Bellies plus I plan to breed them so ima need the extra space eventually. If my check looks good ima buy two of them lol. Yea ima spoiler cant help it plus they like sittin in their lil creek I have now so I gotta make sure I include one
I have a 36X18x24 tank for my Red Eyes. There is a large water section on the left with a waterfall in the middle and a land section on the right. This was pretty easy to make and I will be doing something similar for my firebellies very shortly. I like my tanks with a lot of plants and even though firebelllies don't climb I would want them to feel like they're in a forest. I'm probably going to slope the land section and make a river going to the lake. In this tank I have an island in the middle of the "lake" section with a plant on it with a little bridge going to it. Emerson, my Xanthic tree frog, likes to sit on the island plant which is funny to watch. In the firebelly tank I'll probably also include a flat grass island with a bridge as well. Just some ideas, hope you like them.
Thanks that looks great. I came up with another idea the other night. Its going to have a lake on the right side with the land on the other but some of the water is goin to be in the front of the land and the waterfall beside it and Im going to use the expanding foam for the background and carve a creek goind down it leaving from the waterfall. I drew it on paper so I wouldnt forget. But yours looks great I had thought about an island in the middle as well.
Have you ever done the foam thing? I wanted to try it but I'm a little nerveous. I also picked up an exterior canister filter that that is used for turtle tanks to help keep the water clean and will be using it on their setup. I like my water to look completly clear but it is so hard with them. They are such messy frogs.
No I havent but I been watching videos on youtube to see how its done and the best designs I've seen so I want to give it a try because originally I was just gon have some acrylic cut and go from there. Tell me about it I try hard to keep my water clear but it has turned that tea color again from the ecoearth. So I guess thats gon be part of the set up. Does that filter work good? How much was it?
I bought the zoo med 501. It is an external canister filter designed for turtle tanks which are known to be poopy animals so I sure hope it can handle a couple of small frogs. It was 40 bucks. I haven't hooked it up yet but when I do I'll let you know. Take some photos of your progress on that background and post them so I can see how you're doing. I won't be able to do my tank this weekend as I'll be out of town but I will start as soon as I get back. .I look forward to seeing your project come together as well. A 40 gal will sure make some firebellies happy.
no problem I just gotta wait till I get paid to buy the supplies lol. But I was recently inspired to use cork bark as a background so I ight use that if I can find some locally. But I will deffinitely post updates an progress of the project.
I like your set-up very much. Good job.
