Both Sally and Betty love it! This is the first time Sally hasn't gone crazy and tried to escape in a new enclosure! Of course, this could be due to her lazy state right now...

Love the set up...! All except for the moss, bane of WTF owners everywhere... Do you feed in a separate container? That would be one way of helping prevent accidental ingestion. The problem is sometimes moss can shift, when a frog moves, or another frog moves it, and someone grabs it thinking it's prey-- then you have a real problem on your hands if they swallow it and become impacted! So thumbs up on the viv but down on the moss

I feed in a separate container. I have never had any problems with the moss, but thanks for your concern!

Lisa is spot on! The moss has to go. Improper substrate and food are 2 main causes of impaction in frogs. The tank is ok for now while they're little, but you will need to upgrade soon. You need vertical space more then horizontal. I'd do at least 24x18x24 for two whites.

Feeding in in a separate tank is stressful and not needed, but even if you do that, frog might ingest some while shedding or as Lisa said by mistake. You don't want to deal with impacted white tree frog or any other frog for that matter.

    very pretty frogs.

It is called frog moss. And we have always used it. The tank is a 33 gallon and measures 18x24x18. We have to feed separately because Betty is bigger than Sally and then Sally doesn't get enough food.

It doesn't matter how it is called... I suggest to read through threads on here " help my frog is dying/impacted".
33 gal of horizontal space is a prison cell for 2 whites, it's ok only temporary for babies or as quarantine tank. White tree frogs are tree frogs, a big ones at that.

Lija, do you have whites? Because my two seem pretty happy, and like I said, never had any problems with impaction.

I totally agree with Lija plus one!

I had a bad experience with even coco substrat to start with.

I have a 18x18x24 for one frog and i think he looks crammed in there. They need the height. Like lots of height. The witdh of a tank doesnt do much to them

I also recommemd reading on impacting and also, tank set ups.

So what do you suggest I do? Use paper towel? That's not very natural. There is moss and dirt in the wild, so I'm going to put it in my tank.

I think this post should be deleted. I will remove the moss if problems occur. But I think this post has turned into an argument and should be ended.

I have kept white's. As many as 6 at a time in a 125 gallon tank. That tank is WAY too small for 2 white's, especially when they become adults. It's like you living in your closet the rest of your life.

Frog moss/ forest moss, whatever they are calling it these days is BAD BAD BAD. They have a tendency to get it on themselves as they roam the enclosure and swallow it during shedding, which increases the chances of impaction.

I won't even go into how bad feeding in a separate enclosure is.

While it is ultimately your choice how you keep your frogs, it's your choice to risk impaction or bunch of other conditions due to the cramped space. When a problem occurs it might be too late.

FYI- we on frog forum don't condone animal abuse or keeping them in improper and dangerous conditions.

Yes. 10 is a "guideline", the very minimum. You have to consider that that guideline includes darts, chorus frogs, tree frogs, terrestrials. All different sizes. Obviously, a larger species like a white's or a white lipped, even waxy frogs are going to need more space. That's why I say it's a guideline, not a rule.

It isn't animal abuse. Have you not read the care sheets? This is ridiculous. I can't believe I am being accused of animal abuse.

    Frogfeet123,

What i use in my tank is the eco carpet. It is very soft so no risk of injury and its like one piece so no risk of ingestion.

You are right by saying that its found in the nature but hunny, keep in mind them little guys live mostly up in tree. And its not moss everywhere either.

Im not sure where you read 10 gallons a frog.. from my researches and my learning curve, were looking at almost 30 gallons a frog. Have a look at that online throughout different websites. That might help

    No need to argu guys!
