    Default Moss ID

    What kind of moss is this? I collected it in southern Ohio on a very shaded hill side. It's cleaned off now, so it looks a little different.

    Default Moss ID

    It's Thuidium delecatulum, or fern moss. It's a native moss that requires a winter dormancy to thrive. There are tropical species of fern moss which are much better suited to a vivarium.

    Thank you! It isn't really going in my vivarium. I was just interested.
