Filter in vivarium?

My project I've been working on is finally done but I did have a question about filtration. There likely won't be any fish in there besides maybe a small tetra school but I have not decided on that yet. If I have no fish in there do i actually need a filter or is the circulation pump for the waterfall enough?

A circulation pump will work fine on it's own for the water feature. Regular water changes will help with maintaining water quality.
