C. Cornuta

Hello all!!

I have an amazing opportunity to grab a captive bred C. Cornuta from samurai japan reptiles. I have done extensive research on them but never really could find much written on them.

Has anyone in the United States successfully bred the surinam horned frog?

When buying captive bred I know I will still need to treat for parasites and other diseases which I certainly would as the frog gained some size (still a little frog) but is there a better chance of survival being that it's captive? They are feeding on dubia roaches and pinkie mice which I have access to both.

when purchasing a new animal I always gather geographic information as well as weather information on the area they are from and try to simulate those conditions.

Are there any tips out there for these amazing creatures

F1s will not spawn. There havent been any F2s produced from my understanding.

I don't want to attempt to breed, I would just like to keep 1 as a pet. They are by far my favorite of the pacman frogs. Just worried it would not do too well.

Captive born C. cornutas appear to fare better than wild caught ones. Still; this is a challenging frog and even ones that appear to do well in captivity, can go downhill in expert hands without warning .

is a challenge to keep these even in experienced hands. But if you do get it, make sure everything is spot on at any given moment. And of course test and treat if needed after purchasing.
