    Default Supplementing daylight

Good evening everyone im wondering if now that its winter if I should get a light for Lillypad? My daughters got to name her. It gets dark now here around 5:30 so im not sure what to do? Am I just being over concerned or should I supplement the light somehow and if yes could someone recommend a good day bulb? MY temps I believe are pretty good 83 on the warm and 79 on the cold side in the day and 80 on the warm and 76 on the cold at night, and that's maintained by uth pads. So its just light im wondering about.

As long as the light in the room is on, you don't need an extra light source. If you can do roughly 12 hours with the light on then 12 hours with the light off, that should work fine.
If you'd rather get a bulb, Zoomed is usually alright; don't use a bright/UVB bulb for albinos though, because it can damage their eyes.

Ok. So even if its just a normal lamp with a bulb on an end table beside the tank is ok. And ya keeping it on isn't a problem, shes in the living room across from the big picture window so that's the light she gets at the moment.

Make sure the under tank heater is located on the side or back of the aquarium tank.

My under tank heater is on the side. And I have built a box to go around 3 sides of the enclosure to trap heat and left a space on both ends for the airflow. So its kinda setup as if it was under the tank on a table but around the sides. I did it for the winter and its been working like a charm so far.
