basic questions

I have been looking at possible frogs for me. I read over the grey tree frog care sheet because I read this is the most similar species care sheet. I feel I can create an ideal habitat but there were two things I couldn't find.

- humidity level
- ideal temps

i have 2 Grays i raised from tads. inside temps of a house are fine- 70 ish. not too hot, if you are in a hot climate, and at least 65 for a cold one. Humidity- not sure the percentage, but i spray a few times a day and they do fine. they are a very easy frog to keep.

She is going to have green tree frogs, not grays, so they wouldn't mind a little more warmth than 68. I don't think that those temps would hurt them either, but I have no personal experience with american green tree frogs. They do come from further south in the US though, so they'd probably prefer it to be a touch warmer. I'm not sure how effective a heat mat would be behind a cork background though. I use a CHE with a dimmer and a thermostat on my red eye tank, but that might be overkill for what you would need.

From what I saw it just says a small terrarium is fine for 2-4 individuals. I am only looking to get one tree frog. So would this terrarium be big enough? If not it won't hurt my feelings.

No, that won't work, sorry! I would put 2-3 in an 18x18x24.

I had a pet Green Tree Frog a long, long, long, long, time ago. He seemed pretty comfortable in a 20 gallon tank.

Just looking at some really, really old photographs right now. It was a highly aquatic environment, with the tank filled almost a third of the way with water. There were two pretty hefty climbing branches, and a good sized dieffenbachia plant in a pot in a ceramic holder. I knew nothing about keeping frogs at the time, and he shared the tank with a couple of newts, and also a couple of bullfrog tadpoles/baby bullfrogs for awhile. He still managed to survive for several years though, and was very tame. He used to sit quietly on my finger, and would sometimes start croaking when he was petted.

I think they're good frogs, and overall, they're pretty forgiving. I wouldn't keep one in too small of a setup, though.

It really depends on what kind of tree frog you're looking to get. If you're looking at greys specifically, I keep mine between 68 and 75 Degrees F but they can handle a pretty wide range of temps. Other types of tree frogs will have different needs.

EDIT - I keep my greys around 60% humidity, sometimes down to 50% in the winter. Again though, different tree frogs will have different needs. Greys just come from such a wide range that they can tolerate more. Other tree frogs are less forgiving.

No problem You could keep them in the 70's and around 50-60% humidity also then. Really, I just have a water area and mist the tank in the evenings to keep the humidity at a decent level.

We keep the house at 68 any ideas on bringing that temp up just a few degrees? Or is a che and a dome with dinner still the most recommended ? I plan on a cork bark background, plastic hanging plants on the sides and coconut coir on the bottom if it makes a difference.

My idea was maybe a heat mat on the outside being the cork bark
