Hello, I have a giant waxy bicolor frog that I have had for almost 2 years now. She is very big, definitely a female as I had a male who would croak but he sadly diedand she is much bigger. She has a very bad habit of climbing right to the top of her tank and repeatedly pushing on the top mesh with her hands and face, she has quite a bit of strength so she ends up injuring herself, her nose is a big pink patch and she has marks on her head and a single blister in the middle of one toe on each hand.
I treat her with neosporin often so the wounds don't get infected. I just want her to have a nice normal nose and not look so beat up all the time lol. I have had to make the tank as simple as possible, I can't put any kind of decorations on the sides as she will just use them as leverage to push up even stronger. The top of the tank was metal mesh but after I noticed her doing this when I first got her I switched it to fabric mesh but even though it is a lot less abrasive she still get injuries from it. She was originally in a 36x18x24 and I upgraded to a 36x18x36 terrarium and she still does it. I figured it was down to her settling in when I first got her but she pretty much does this every night or every other night, she is very stubbon and won't learn her boundaries lol. I know she is wild caught so I can't really blame her. I feel bad for her I don't have space for a bigger tank do you think I should give her away to someone that does or maybe a zoo or something? I probably would not have bought her if i'd have known that she was taken from the wild or would need the run of my house lol.![]()
I'm sorry your froggy is not feeling wellThere could be something wrong in the enclosure that she is trying to escape from. Temps, humidity, bad water etc. Could you copy/paste and fill this out so we can get a better idea of what is going on?

I really hope someone can help poor little Daisy![]()
Hiand welcome to the frog forum!
i must say... Wow! Very rarely do I see waxies kept properly.
Something stresses her out. Husbandry is ok, food is not. Just crickets are not enough. Bicolors would love to get even a pinky once in a while. Get whatever you can and as different as you can - dubia roaches, pinky ( no more then one a month), hornworms, nighcrawlers since she is tong fed, she shouldn't care too much.
a few more q
-have you done a proper quarantine with fecal testing when you just got her? Please describe how it was done exactly.
- what type of lights are you using other then basking? Asking in regards of UVB in particular.
I really would like like to see pic of her and her enclosure to advise further.

Save one animal and it doesn't change the world, but it surely changes the world for that one animal!
Have you tried a piece of smooth plastic cut out in the middle like a frame and attached to the inside of the lid? It might provide less friction than the fabric mesh.
