Is it possible to determine approximate age based on size? Or any other methods? I was told when I got him (him, until otherwise determined) that he was a couple months old, but I would to try to get as close to the right age. Mainly because of the different care required, though I'm guessing the main difference is feeding schedule?
Right now now he doesnt have very good aim so I am feeding him in a separate container so he doesn't get as many mouthfuls of substrate. He's eating around 5 crickets a day, alternating the calcium and vitamins on the feeding schedule that I found somewhere in this forum.
Here's a picture of him in my hand, I'm guessing he's about 2" SVL
Heres another her from the side
Thanks in in advance for all your help!
no way to really tell exactly how old it is...but u can guess pretty close to how old it is when its that size....i would say thats like 2-3 months old, depending on how it was fed
Cool, thanks! Also, at what age are they considered juvenile and then adult?
So I just found out my little guy is a Tanzanian Bullfrog. Does that change things?
from what i see...it looks like its a giant pyxicephalus adspersus...looked like all the ones ive had b4
it will take proably about 8-12 months b4 u can consider it a adult....but they will still grow very slowly after that age...u will see very drastic changes and growth in the first 8-12 months...then it slows down a lot
Crickets should be sized same as distance between frog's eyes. Recommend add to diet not dyed night crawlers (Walmart or local bait shop) cut to body length pieces from pointy end.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !
Great! Thanks for the tips guys. There is so much to learn about these awesome little guys!
