Hello All:
I have loved frogs since I was a small child. Years ago, I found out about the South American Horned frogs like Certophylis Ornata ("PacMan") and was excited.
Their care and feeding only on live food, and the high casualty rate as mostly juveniles and imported froglets being sold, put me off to get some, so I only have the easy to care for African Dwarf Aquatic Frogs.
Any tips and advise for: where to buy a mature (or at least not juvenile!) horned frog, how to obtain and manage live food if one does not want insects or mice in the house, and the setup of a good environment are appreciated. So far I found that the only shop that occasionally has some juveniles is the East Bay Vivarium in Berkeley, and that most Reptile and Amphibian shows are in Southern California and have no horned frogs.
I am located in the San Francisco bay area. I have a deck where I might be able to keep live food if its can withstand the temperature variation.
I am open to your advise and any useful links or places to buy the frogs or live food, as well as any alternatives to live food.
I am also interested to network with other FrogPhiliacs in the San Fran Bay area.
With Kind Regards,
Jon
I found that reptile shows are the easiest, but you said that you want an adult might be an issue there as you already said. If you have the money the best way is to order from a reputable online company. there are many breeders online that have amazing frogs for sale. Check out joshs frogs maybe
