If no live plants, recommend shredded coco (Plantation Soil or EcoEarth) mixed with dechlorinated tap until it clumps in fist without dripping water out and nothing else (no soil).

If live plants in a vivarium scenario, ABG type soil with a layer of leaves on top (no sphagnum or any material that could cause impactions if ingested) over a drainage layer or false bottom. Good luck !

Thanks I'm using EcoEarth. I'll check to make sure there is no excess moisture. I am using artificial plants to. I should note that Tang (the other female) hasn't done this in a while. I have no idea how old Cali is but she is quite large and wasn't under good tank conditions when I more or less rescued her from the pet store.
