Hello from MA!

Hi all, I am new to the forum, as I am a new toad owner and have had a very difficult time finding proper care info for my smooth-sided toad. I am excited to be here, and hope to be an active member of the site.
I have a couple of questions...I recently bough my adorable toad, and I am not sure if it is a male or female. Also, I have (him) in a 20 gallon tank, with jungle mix as a substrate, and a large water bowl (big enough for him to soak in). I gave him a bunch of crickets a couple of days ago, and he didn't eat all of them. I am not sure if he is just not hungry, or if I should just leave the extra live crickets in his home with him? Also, I bough a heat lamp with a ceramic heating bulb that I leave on top of his enclosure. He has a 1/2 log that he often hides under. He feels cold to me, but se doesn't stay under the lamp very much. He is also shedding. If anyone can tell me if what I am doing is right for him, I would really appreciate it. I want to be sure he is happy! Thanks so much!
