We are currently constructing a 75 gallon whites tree frog enclosure. These will be our first frogs and we love the look of them. I have done plenty research but I always like to ask forums for opinions of people that are currently keeping the animals and their experiences as we'll. more information the better. The tank is a 75g aquarium with screen top LED lighting tons of fake plants a large log two large rocks that are foamed in to creat a shallow water feature on the right side of the tank. Gravel used on the dry side to build up some areas which will be covered with landscape cloth covered in plantation soil which will be covered with moss. Our house is kept on the colder side so there is a heat mat on the rear of the tank left side. This mat is a dessert wave may as I did not realize they made one for tropical species. Back of the tank is painted black and just glass. I am worried about the frogs burning themselves on the hot glass. So if I used the exo terra foam backgrounds and cut them to size do you guys think this would provide sufficient insulation to not harm the frogs. Also in a 75g tank how many frogs ( fully grown) could live out their life in that size tank. Sorry for the long first post and thank you in advance for your help.
Welcome to the forum! No problem about the long post. You could probably fit 5 full grown whites in there IMO. The foam should be sufficient if you want to be safe and try to prevent then from burning. Moss can cause impaction so I would play it safe and use a glass bowl for them to feed from.

My guess is that the styrofoam will insulate the glass but it will also keep enough heat from getting through. You might need a heat lamp/ heat emitter instead depending on how cold your house gets.
Personally I'd say 3-5 frogs would fit. There's a ten gallon minimum per frog rule of thumb, but you have to consider that White's get big, especially females. They aren't especially territorial so they should do okay in groups as long as they have plenty of hiding spots. But one thing to consider is that more frogs= more poop. More frogs per gallon= more frequent cleaning of the tank.
I was thinking around 5 as we'll. Ok if moss can cause impaction then would a planted live moss be better? Or moss sparingly and just the plantation soil?

Planted moss should be better, that's what I've been told. Or you could leave the moss and tweezer feed or feed in a glass bowl like Strider18 suggested. That way they aren't likely to get a mouthful of moss with their meal.
Leaf litter sounds like it would be really good looking. And I do have tweezers that I could always tweezer feed.
You could do that, I would personally just feed with a glass bowl though.
Amy why did you change your profile picture?

Did I confuse you? I wanted to put up one of my new girls lol.
Tong feeding is fun if you really like interaction, plus you see exactly what everyone is eating. I'd do both in case you have a day where you don't have time to tong feed, then they'll know how to bowl feed.

I was confused when I saw your pic yeah lol.
Tong feed if you want interaction for sure. My Pacific Chorus Frog attacks the tongs furiously lol.

Ok doing both sounds good as that's what I do with my leopard geckos. Also Is oak and or magnolia wood safe to use with thee guys?
Oak is fine, I would bake it before you put it in there though, I do 250DegreesF for a half hour. I'm not sure about magnolia, magnolia leaves are safe, but I'm not sure about the wood.

Doesn't oak need to be soaked and boiled to get the tannins out?

If it's not going in the water, you don't need to worry about it. The tannins won't hurt anything even if it does go into the water, it will just discolor it.

We'll some many things got changed around. General lay out, water feature got scrapped, exo terra 18x24 backgrounds turned on their side. 5 gallon bucket of plantation soil. 45 lbs of gravel under landscape fabric as a drainage layer, and a fair amount of fake plants. Going to work on some more tree like branches. Hope you guys enjoy!
Nice, plenty of places to climb in there.
