Ok I may have missed it, But is there a specific thermometer that is recommended? The zoo med gauge was rated the highest on Amazon.

Also I would really like to get a pac man soon( next month) but if now is not the time I have no problems storing away the supplies.

Those little stick-on thermometer/hygrometers may as well just be a decoration. They don't work at all for something like a frog. My recommendation would've been the hydrotherm, so I'm not aware of other brands of hygrometers (I'm sure there are others out there though)

Simple cheap old school thermometer the floating one for 1-2$

or digital home combo. I think 6-7$ from Walmart. Digital in general are more accurate, analog gauges most of the time shows whatever they want to
keep in mind the placement is important too, the best place is in a dead centre of a back wall, about 2" above the substrate.

I was reading and some recommend a heat pad on the site or back of the tank, Is this a viable option?

I thought those floating ones only worked for water temps.

I meant to ask about a combo gauge lol .. oops.

The analogue ones really do suck, as others have said. I have used the nat geo and exo terra digital ones. The Exo terra digital works good so long as you pull the humidity probe out when misting. I was only putting mine in long enough to measure the humidity and would pull it back out (otherwise it got stuck at 99%.) The nat geo digital worked great for 3 or 4 months before the batteries corroded from the moisture in the tank. I would get another one though, and just not leave it in the tank 100% of the time, it had no time to dry out. Now, I only use those cheap glass thermometers.

I can get the thermometer easy, But I will look around for hygrometers. its too bad the hygrometers like thsi don't work, they are so easy to get ahold of. http://www.amazon.com/Exo-Terra-PT24...rds=hygrometer

Yep cheap glass ones are the best... Weird right? You'd think how1$ thing can be better then 20$ one.
for more tanks i recommend infrared gun, but you really don't need it.

heat pads work for some people, you gotta find the big one, way bigger then you'd think might work and stick it on a side. The problem is that the chances are just heat pad might not be enough and once you stick it on, it's close to impossible to take it out.

Yeah thats not really worth the risk. I will just go with the ceramic heat emitter. I actually do have a temperature pen, I got it to monitor turtle basking temps.

So .. I am still thinking it over, But assuming I can get steady temps in the range I need. I am leaning towards trying again. But its a big IF.

Currently I am putting a list together of all the right supplies. I put off getting supplies for the moment. But I am putting together a list of exactly what to get.
