Research, Reseach, Research Before You Buy Any Pet

Exactly what I do! I spend a minimum of probably 20 hours before I even consider getting any pet. And even then I rarely end up getting them. What can I say I love research!

Before I bought FROG I bought five books about frogs. Four of them pertained to Horned Frogs and the other one covered all frogs. Even then some of the information didn't agree what was said about the article on Horned Frogs on this website. I would take that information to heart before I would use the information in those four books. The fifth book covering all frogs had the best information on Horned Frogs in my opinion.

Not just research on the animal they buy, but the breeders too. I've seen too many people who do everything else right pick up an animal from a bad dealer or petstore and everything goes downhill because they started off with a sick, wild caught, or unsexed animal (thinking mainly about tarantulas with that last one).

I don't even bother with researching caresheets anymore; I go straight to the most active forums for a species and describe my setup and ask for everyone to nitpick it before I get an animal.
