    Default Cause of death?

    Hi everyone,

My American green tree frog recently died 2 days ago .

When I examined the dead frog to see if I could find a possible cause of death, I noticed a brown spot inside his belly. Internal bleeding perhaps? Name: IMG_6145.jpg

I'm very sorry your frog died . Not sure about spot; does not look normal. Think a herp vet conducting a necropsy is only way to determine what caused the death.
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Thank you for all your quick replies! I had been feeding him mainly small crickets. Once or twice a month I had fed him 4-6 small mealworms or waxworms (and when I did feed him worms he usually only ate a small amount). I know that the night before he passed, I had placed 5 waxworms into his dish, considering he hadn't had worms in a month. However, I unfortunately can't remember now if there were any worms missing from the dish the day I found him dead. I think all 5 were still there, but I'm not 100% sure.

As for substrate, I had used eco earth (with a drainage layer of small gravel at the bottom separated from the eco earth by a mesh). On top of the eco earth I had had sheet moss.
