Default Need to get NM spadefoot to stop croaking, please help

My little Herbert is injured, and needs some help.

He is quite frisky, which got him into this mess. He was "going after" Witwoo, one of my female Plains spadefoots. Usually when this happens, I try to pry the male off if the female keeps whining and he doesn't get it. As I got over there, I witnessed Witwoo get one good kick in with her spade, and she sliced Herbert's lower lip open.

I quickly removed him and treated his wound with Neosporin to keep it from getting infected. However, he won't learn his lesson. He keeps croaking and calling for another lady. Every time he expands his throat, he stretches his wound and prevents it from healing. I finally separated him from the other toads...but he keeps singing. I just can't stop him. His wound has gotten slightly bigger and I don't know what to do.

Any suggestions as to how I can get him to stop croaking so his wound can heal?

    Ouch, poor baby. Sorry

Take him to a vet .... it may need a stitch.
It sounds like the laceration is in one of those areas that needs the support of a stitch.
There may be some of "dental" surgical glue they could use.....But that just a guess?

It would like;y be only one visit as it could be dissolving nurture thread?

Be sure the vet is experienced with amphibians.

I was worried I may have to take him to a vet...but luckily it seems he finally learned his lesson and stopped calling on his own. I've been keeping his cage near me all day (yay unemployment) so I could stop him if he did start croaking...but he hasn't tried since. He also ate a large meal of crickets last night and burrowed for a bit to sleep. When I last checked on his wound, it was seriously half the size. I think he will be okay, but when he first started croaking it did freak me out a bit!

Glad he is doing better! Would keep this one away from females; unless you are spawning them and females are ready .
Remember to take care of the enclosure and it will take care of your frog !

Oh man, I would be so excited if I ever got eggs! The toads have no problem "having fun" with one another, but they never seem interested in laying eggs. :/
