ADF Divided Tank?

I was just wondering if anyone keeps their ADFs in a divided tank. I have divided my 10 gallon since IHOP likes nipping Rufio's (betta) fins and Prince is scared of Rufio. It's going well, and Prince is singing again, but they hide under the plants a lot and I wonder if I've just shortened their territory by too much.
