    Unhappy ADF eggs won't hatch

    Good Day,

I am new here and somewhat new to ADF eggs.. I have owned my ADF's for 5 years my 2 younger ones which are 2 just started to lay eggs.My older ones have never had eggs so the eggs are a first for me.. They are popping out around 20-30 and i am putting them in a net that hangs over side of the tank. I have also put them in there own tank.. warm water around 77, change it using the current frog water not fresh. and have a small currant which i was told keeps the eggs from molding. I can not seem to keep my eggs from molding. When I do get any to hatch its only 1 and it dies a few days later.

Please I need help. I really want to have them survive. I know they are hard to rear in captivity but i feel bad them poor things going through all that work for them to just die. I have also just been keeping them in there tank these past 2 breedings because i was sad of them dying. parents had all eggs gone in 2 days.

I have raised many tadpole in my life and have great success in it. Ive raised toads, green frogs, bullfrogs, and spring peepers. I think i might have met my match though with my ADF's

any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

There's no obvious explanation for the eggs moulding. One possibility is that they're infertile; another is that the eggs may get damaged when you transfer them to the net. When I bred them in the past I either moved the frogs to a separate tank or introduced a lot of live Daphnia to distract the frogs' attention from the eggs so they could develop and then transferred the tadpoles.

Don't be discouraged. Anyone attempting to breed these frogs for the first time should be prepared for frustration and disappointment. The main qualities required for success are patience and persistence.

There's a lot of detailed and well-illustrated information on rearing these tadpoles at: ADF Tadpole Development - 96366

I have successfully bred ADFs before. I used a turkey baster to take the young tadpoles or eggs and transferred them all to a breeder box inside the main tank. After 2 weeks, I transferred them to a 2.5 gallon tank (with a net) and let them finish changing there.
