I recently bought 2 fat fire belly toads from petco. I was planning on buying some from backwater reptiles but when I saw them at the store I could not resist. I saw that they were chunky but when I got them home I noticed one was almost as fat as it was long and the other is as fat as its length! the are both roughly 1" long and I am curious how much and often I should be feeding them to trim them up? And 1 of them does not seem interested in food at all while the other will practically eat out of my hand. I have only had them 3 days. The tank they are in is 10 gal, 72 degrees F with about 2 inches of water and 40% land. Should I be having them work out at all by having them swim in a separate tank for a little bit a day? (monitored of course) otherwise they seem to be active and exploring the tank. Thanks guys.
Are you sure they aren't bloated? Usually female FBTs will be swelled with eggs or there may be an ingestion problem (A picture would really help) Don't expect the frogs to start eating right away, they may need to adjust to their new environment. Feed a regiment of small crickets, i've seen employees at Petsmart and other large pet franchises feed FBTs large crickets about as big as the frogs themselves! Usually a froggy lap pool is not needed As long as they are active and moving around, i don't see a problem.

The picture on the far left is the frog I am concerned about the most, the other seems to be normal sized when I compared it to other photos online.
As long as she's eating well and on a regular basis, i wouldn't worry about it too much, some toads are sometimes fatter than
others. If you feel her belly you can check if she's bloated or notIf she is fat, she will still be a little squishy, if she's bloated,
she will be more firm.

Okay thanks. Her stomach is the same squishiness as the other ones so I think she is okay. She still has yet to eat though.
Finally ate
