Hey, this might be nothing but my frog seems sluggish even for a dumpy. Do frogs normally sleep day and night after being treated?
I've dosed Bonk with metinozole(spelling?) for four days. The vet said he had a lot of protozoa. For two days afterwards, I've noticed that he's hidden, staying in the same place. I know he might be moving around at night, but I really doubt it since I normally catch him moving when I get up at night. He's eaten, but very reluctantly. It's not that he's being overfed, I've skipped two days between feedings.
If you think it might be something serious, I'll answer a 'trouble in the terrarium' questionnaire although my camera's dead so I can't provide pictures.
EDIT: He croaked last night but it sounded weak and soft compared to his usual sound.
Hi elly
Congratulations on getting through this !
Good for you ! having gotten him tested. It's a lot of work.
I'm sure you can see that the cost of a frog has absolutely to do with the cost of its on-going and proper care.
This especially true for those poor little Fire Belly Toads we see at the big box store. ( ie like 30 frogs in one 10 gallon take)
It can take some time for him to bounce back.
Slowly returning to his normal routine is a good sign.
He will sleep more and shed more while on the metro.
Continue his normal feeding schedule. You don't want hold any food back - especially supplements.
As always maintaining proper temps is really important > especially when they are recovering.
However, I would recommend you speak to the vet to determine if, at some point, you might get him tested again.
Just in case the treatment may need to be repeated ? The vet will be able to tell you how long to wait before re-testing ,
of which can not be done too close to the end of the Metronidazole.

Thanks. I'm glad that being sluggish is normal after this.
He's supposed to get a second fecal test at the beginning of next week.
Iii'm a little afraid I might have hurt him more since I decided to give him a warm bath with a little pedialyte last night. I had the idea that he might not be soaking. I hadn't seen him move and I get up several times during the night (insomnia is great). Terrible mistake: I was so concerned with getting the water lukewarm that I forgot to use dechlor until a second or two after Bonk was in the box. I dropped it in as soon as I remembered.
Anyhow he started shedding like crazy as soon as he got in the bath. When I opened the lid again, he struggled and tried to escape. I think he has the idea that my dresser is small frog paradise since he's always staring at it and trying to get there.
Once I got him back in the tank I tried to give him a cricket, but he would have none of it. I'm not exactly helping him be comfortable with me by picking him up this way, poor guy.
On the bright side, he moved around last night and I found a giant poop in his water dish this morning.
