Good read and I agree with many of the points. I think it is possible to mix species IF the cage is large enough, they have very similar requirements, and they don't normally compete for food. Feeding the red eyed tree frog by hand so it wouldn't stress out the dart frogs is a good idea and the fact the the red eyed tree frog is arboreal and the dart frogs are more terrestrial seems like it would work the best. The only time I would ever mix species though is if I have had many years of experience keeping them by themselves and if the cage that they were in was at minimum 300+ gallons. Just my opinion though
