Hello from North Carolina!

Hey ya'll, (yes, i'm southern)

I'm new to frogs but not to reptiles, as I have a scorpion and several crabs. I am trying to convince my folks to let me set up a frog tank (I already have two terrariums as it is). Sadly, this may involve getting rid of one of the tanks I already have.

The frogs I'm considering are: American Green Tree Frog, Tomato Frog, or Firebelly Toad. There is a nice exo terra 18x18x24 setup with two AGTFs and all the fixin's in my area for sale for less than I could buy the tank, so I may go with this. Though I really would prefer tomatoes or firebellies you cant beat that deal.

Welcome to the forum Russ! I'm also from North Carolina, in the Wake Forest area. I also own two AGTFs, and they're amazing frogs . I also have hermit crabs, and am currently in the process of building a 90 gallon tank for them. The deal you're talking about is actually from one of our own members, Gail, and she'll only let her babies go to the best of caretakers, so it may be difficult for someone new to frogs to buy them. I don't want to discourage you, however, and instead encourage you to do tons of research; on frogs, tanks, building, etc. The more info you get, the more prepared you'll be for these awesome creatures. Carols, those ARE the AGTF, it's Vera and Vern. And Russ, these guys are really easy to care for as long as you keep their temps & humidity where it should be, dust their crickets or roaches with suppliments and give them fresh frog safe water you'll enjoy them. They don't hide during the day, ususally hang out on the glass or on the leaves of the plants, and they don't freak out when held either. And I don't hibernate them during the winter either so you do need a food source for them and I can give you some great places to get red runner roaches if you choose to go with that, that's what I've always feed. The fact that you're coming to frog forum for advise is a great start in being keeper of the our froggy friends.

I can see the confusion Carols. That big green blob is Vera, almost as big as a male WTF. She loves to eat and does eat from tongs.
