With the horn worm, it was about the same length as him so 2 inches and width wise was perfect, between his eyes.
Yes, the honey makes a difference. You can put 3-5 drops in and mix them up. It's not an exact science, just don't pour a ton of honey in there.
Also, could you please answer the questions from the Trouble in the Enclosure link? Sometimes not eating well has to do with something other than impaction.
